In this paper, I examine the effect of intentions on the moral status we intuitively assign to actions, particularly in situations where an agent's intentions do not match the action's results. I also attempt to modify a form of rule consequentialism to account for intentions and address potential responses.

I've been fortunate enough to celebrate in the streets more than once in my life. During four years at the University of Florida, I celebrated three national championships on University Avenue, exchanging enthused high-fives between rousing Gator chomps and cheers. As great as those bashes were, they paled in comparison to observing the most electrified election night in the history of a generation unfold on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
